The fibre database is in two parts.
(1) An open database, in which "standard" values of fibre dimensions and properties are given for a range of fibre types. Some of these, e.g. fibre density, will be applicable to all fibres of a given type. Others, e.g. fibre strengths, vary with the particular source of fibre, but the generic values listed are typical of what is available on the market. Information from this database can be used in preliminary calculations.
(2) A proprietary database, in which users can input values related to specific sources of fibre for exact calculations. A few typical examples will be included.
